Programme Objective:
- To provide a specialist in-depth understanding of core areas of economics, banking and finance.
- To give valuable skills in numeracy, IT, communications and problem solving, as well as key skills for further study at the graduate level.
- To prepare graduates for specialist quantitatively orientated careers in banking and finance, research and forecasting, as well as areas of business management and accounting.
- To prepare graduates with the confidence to present and discuss economic arguments using verbal, graphical, mathematical and statistical language.
Duration: 2-year programme in business administration with accounting specialization.
1st year required courses: basic statistics, quantitative methods, principles of accounting and elements of macroeconomics.
2nd year required courses: logic/critical thinking, principles of costing, research methods, financial accounting, and auditing and internal review.
Career prospects: financial accountants, management accountants, financial analysts, auditors, tax experts, budget officers, bankers etc.
This course provides an advanced financial education that covers both microeconomic and macroeconomic theory and policy. Students will learn quantitative research and computing methods essential for economics and finance. Upon completion of this course, students will be confident in analyzing and interpreting economic and financial information and be able to demonstrate a critical evaluation of economic issues relevant to banking and finance.
