Programme Objective: To develop skills in journalism by understanding respective systems and cultures, mastering investigative techniques, analyzing media influence and applying ethical practices; while gaining insights into financial markets, corporate communication and live broadcasting.

Duration: 2-year undergraduate programme in journalism.

1st year required courses: Language skills, introduction to broadcasting, print journalism, creative writing, introduction to social psychology, and logic/critical thinking.

2nd year required courses: Media management, conflict resolution, media entrepreneurship, advance print journalism, and research methods. A 3-month internship at the end of their second year and students are expected to produce a full report of at least 1,500 words covering their practicum experiences and acquired knowledge.

Elective courses: Sports reporting, political reporting, business & economic reporting, entertainment reporting, and science reporting. The Programme makes use of classroom lectures, group work, practical exercises involving reporting from the various beats and publishing on individual blogs, and in the department’s newsletter.

Career Prospects: Business journalist, financial reporter, business editor, sports journalist, sports commentator/analyst, sports editor, public relations manager for sports teams, political journalist, political correspondent, political analyst, lobbyist, public relations specialist, government communications officer etc.
